After twenty five years in corporate engineering and operations management, and another decade as an entrepreneur, my current passion and fulfillment are found as a "supporting actor", helping other businesses achieve success. Along with that is a desire to make a positive contribution to the world (some call it "giving back") and that is the reason I offer free consulting to non-profits.
In the large corporate world (Lockheed Martin's commercial products division) I was responsible for Operations Engineering (hardware, software, mechanical, test, and QA) for large corporate clients like IBM, EMC, and Motorola. I learned a lot about large corporations, what makes them successful, and why they often can't seem to get out of their own way. I learned how to quickly discern corporate culture and politics, enabling myself and my organization to work with them in ways they understood, preferred, and respected.
At Calcomp's Digitizer Division I led the product development for the 1998 MacWorld Input Device of Year award winning product "Creation Station" - a consumer-focused artistry peripheral that included a fully programmable wireless/battery-less pen, and fully programmable wireless/battery-less mouse. Not only did we cut development time in half over previous products, while adding an impressive suite of flexible/configurable software capability.
My years at Novatel Wireless, Inc. as VP of Customer Programs (custom applications) honed my experience in managing fast-paced technology start-ups. Two startups earlier in my career provided a great foundation.
As a founder and CEO of a 3SI2, Inc. (a custom software development company - www.3si2.com) I enjoyed learning about our clients' businesses - each unique with challenges that required custom-tailored solutions to support their business goals and needs. It was during these years that I learned that my greatest satisfaction was helping our clients navigate their business challenges - translating those challenges into software solutions. I found particular satisfaction and enjoyment in helping them overcome debilitating business challenges.
That leads me to today. I exited 3SI2 in 2015 and now enjoy being that "supporting actor" to other businesses as Addiss Consulting. If you have a need and an interest, let's chat. If there is a good fit between what you need and what I can provide, we'll both know it. If not, we'll at least have had a meaningful conversation.
